Branimir (Latince: Branimiro), 879'dan 892'ye kadar dük (Hırvatça: knez) olarak hüküm süren Hırvatistan hükümdarıydı.

Hükümdarlığı

Balkanlar, 850

Ülkesi, 7 Haziran 879'da Papa VIII. Ioannes tarafından bir eyalet olarak tanındı.[1] Hükümdarlığı sırasında ülkesini hem Frank hem de Bizans yönetiminden korudu. Ayrıca ülkesini yasal olarak bağımsızlaştırdı.[2][3] Saltanatı boyunca Branimir, Hırvatistan'ın bağımsızlığı için uğraştı.

Branimir yaklaşık 892 yılına kadar hüküm sürdü. Yerine Trpimir'in üçüncü oğlu Muncimir geçti.[4]

Anısı

Günümüzde, Dük Branimir'in adını taşıyan birkaç tarihi anıt (çoğunlukla eski Hırvat kiliselerinde yer alan sunak kirişleri) bulunmaktadır.[kaynak belirtilmeli] Hırvat hükûmeti halen daha Dük Branimir Nişanı'nı en yüksek devlet nişanlarından biri olarak takdim etmektedir.[5]
