Alfred Louis Olivier Legrand Des Cloizeaux (17 Ekim 1817 – 6 Mayıs 1897), Fransız mineralog.

Des Cloizeaux, Oise iline bağlı Beauvais'de doğdu. Jean-Baptiste Biot'den Collège de France'da öğrenim gördü. Daha sonra Paris'teki École Normale Supérieure ve Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle'de mineraloji profesörü olarak görev aldı. İzlanda gayzerlerini inceledi ve ayrıca bazı püsküren kayaların sınıflandırılması üzerine de yazılar yazdı.[1]

Ana çalışması, çok sayıda mineralin kristallerinin sistematik olarak incelenmesi, bunların optik özellikleri ve ışık polarizasyonu konusunda yapılan araştırmalardan oluşuyordu. Ayrıca Des Cloizeaux, zinoberin dairesel polarizasyonunu da gösterdi.[2]

Özellikle farklı feldspat türlerinin belirlenme yöntemleri üzerine yazılar yazdı ve mikroklinin (bir triklinik potas-feldspat türü) keşfiyle de tanınır.[2] Montebrasit (1871), binnit (birtenantit çeşidi) ve Christianit (Danimarkalı VIII. Christian onuruna) minerallerini adlandırdı.[3][4][5] 1854 yılında Alexis Damour, descloizite mineralini Des Cloizeaux'e onuruna ithaf etti.[6]

Des Cloizeaux, 1869 yılında Fransız Bilimler Akademisi üyeliğine seçildi ve 1889 yılında da başkanlığa getirildi. Londra Jeoloji Topluluğu tarafından 1886 yılında Wollaston Madalyası ile ödüllendirildi.[7] Amerikan Felsefe Derneği'ne 1878 yılında üye seçildi.[8] En çok bilinen kitapları Leçons de cristallographie (1861) ve Manuel de minéralogie'dir (2 cilt, Paris, 1862, 1874 ve 1893).
