İstahrî (Bābā İshāk İbrahim bin Muhammed Faresi Karki), 10. yüzyıl'da yaşamış olan İslam coğrafyacısı, gezgin ve bir tür masālek (lit. "güzergahlar") edebiyatının kurucusudur. İran şehri İstahr'da doğduğu için İstahri 'İstakhrlı' olarak anılmıştır. Çıktığı uzun yolculuklardaki gözlemlerini ve incelemelerini; 919 yılında yazdığı Kitab el-Mesalik ve'l Memalik'i'de anlatmıştır. Bu eserde tüm kıtaların renkli haritaları bulunmaktadır. İstahrî, yaşamının büyük bir kısmını Bağdat'ta geçirmiş ve Semerkand şehrinde 957'de öldü.[1] Bir diğer İslam coğrafyacısı ve tarihçisi olan İbn Havkal ile birlikte çalışmıştır.
