Kıta

Kıta ya da ana kara,[1] yeryüzünü oluşturan büyük kara parçalarıdır.

Kıtayı tanımlayan tek bir standart yoktur ve bu yüzden farklı kültürler ve bilimler neyin kıta olarak yorumlanacağına ilişkin farklı listelere sahiptirler. Genelde, bir kıta geniş alanlı olmalı, sualtında olmayan topraklardan meydana gelmeli ve önemli jeolojik sınırları olmalıdır. Bazıları en fazla dört ya da altı kıta olduğunu düşünürken, en yaygın kullanımda yedi kıta sayılır. Ama genelde yedi kıta olarak bilinir. Bazıları Afrika, Avrupa ve Asya'nın birleştiği yeri Avrasya kıtası olarak görür, ancak burası sanıldığı gibi ayrı bir kıta değil sadece o bölgenin takma adıdır.
