Asymptote

Asymptote je architektonické, dizajnérske a výskumné štúdio, ktoré v New Yorku založili v roku 1989 manželia a architekti Hani Rashid a Lise Anne Couture. V štúdiu vznikajú projekty maximálne využívajúce súčasné digitálne technológie. Uznanie si táto dvojica získala realizáciou virtuálnej Newyorskej burzy cenných papierov (NYSE) a virtuálneho Guggenheimovho múzea. Významného ohlasu sa dočkala ich realizácia pavilónu HydraPier Pavilion a design kancelárskeho nábytku pre firmu Knoll. Ich dielo bolo prezentované na benátskom Bienále architektúry v roku 2000.

Profil firmy

Asymptote experimentuje s technologickými inováciami v oblasti architektúry a dizajnu, vytvárajúc na jednej strane reálne umelecké inštalácie a návrhy budov a na druhej strane sa podieľa na množstve digitálnych projektov, ako napríklad spomínané Guggenheimovo virtuálne múzeum.

Pôsobenie firmy sa z roka na rok rozrástlo, v súčasnosti pôsobí celosvetovo. Pracuje na veľkom množstve projektov v Spojených štátoch amerických a Ázii. V Európe takisto prebieha výstavba niekoľkých projektov, ako napríklad stavba komerčných veží v Budapešti; novej predajne pre Carlosa Mieleho v Paríži a obchodno-obytnej štvrti Bubny v Prahe.

Počas skoro dvoch dekád pôsobenia, ateliér Asymptote navrhol množstvo experimentálnych umeleckých inštalácií zahŕňajúcich aj multimediálne technológie, napríklad pre Guggenheimovo múzeum v New Yorku; DOCUMENTA XI v Kasseli, Nemecku a Schirn Kunsthalle vo Frankfurte. V roku 2000 Hani Rashid spolureprezentoval USA na siedmom Bienále architektúry v Benátkach a v roku 2004 boli Rashid a Couture vybraní pre návrh Metamorphu na deviatom ročníku Bienále architektúry v Benátkach.

Projekty štúdia Asymptote boli mnohokrát publikované na súkromných aj verejných výstavách, napríklad pre Múzeum moderného umenia (MoMA) v New Yorku, Pinotheke v Mníchove, a iných.

V roku 2004 boli Rashid a Couture ocenení cenou Fredericka Kieslera za architektúru a umenie za veľký prínos do súčasnej architektúry.
