Monterrey je mexické mesto v štáte Nuevo León v severnom Mexiku. Je deviate najväčšie mesto Mexika a aglomerácia mesta s počtom obyvateľov 4 080 329 je tretia najväčšia v krajine, po aglomeráciach Ciudad de Mexico a Guadalajara.

Topológia

Mesto sa nachádza v severovýchodnom Mexiku na úpätí pohoria Sierra Madre Oriental. V tesnej blízkosti mesta sa nachádza hora Cerro de la Silla, ktorá tvorí dominantu mesta a je súčasťou najväčšieho mexického národného parku, Cumbres de Monterrey. Mestom preteká rieka Santa Catarina, ktorá po určité obdobie v roku vysychá.

Ekonomika

Mesto je obchodným centrom severu krajiny a sídlom mnohých významných medzinárodných firiem. Bolo považované za jedno z najbezpečnejších v Mexiku a jedno z najbezpečnejších v Latinskej Amerike.[1] Je to tiež druhé najbohatšie mesto Mexika a 63. najbohatšie mesto sveta. Je považované za jedno z najrozvinutejších mexických miest s najvyšším príjmom na obyvateľa v krajine.[2]
