Nils Gregoriussen Tveranger (1874–1953) var en skomaker i Aurland, kjent som mannen bak aurlandsskoen.

Som syttenåring dro Nils til Boston, Massachusetts. I Bostons skomakermiljø fikk han seg arbeid som skomakersvenn og lærte seg skomakeryrket. Nils dro hjem til Norge som nittenåring og bosatte seg i Aurland i 1894. Her åpnet han eget skomakerverksted. Med seg fra Boston hadde han kunnskap om produksjon av blant annet mokasiner, men det var først i 1926 han utviklet en mokasin-lignende sko. Basert på den amerikanske mokasinmodellen og den lokale tese-skoen[3] utviklet Nils Tveranger aurlandsskoen.

Tveranger hadde 15 mann i arbeid på verkstedet sitt. På det meste ga produksjonen av den spesielle skoen arbeid til 90 personer i Aurland, fordelt på 19 skomakerverksted.

Nils Tveranger var kjent som skomaker før han utviklet aurlandskoen. «Nasjonalskoen»[4] ble et begrep for den mest typiske bunadskoen for menn og kvinner. Typisk for denne var snøresko med hælhøyde. Han fikk førstepris for denne skoen under landsutstillingen i Bergen i 1910.

I tillegg til å være en god og nyskapende skomaker, var han også en dyktig selger.

I 1895 giftet han seg med Hansine Toraldsdotter Onstad (1872–1933). De fikk fire barn.[5]
