Den 87. Oscar-utdelingen, presentert av Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), fant sted 22. februar 2015 og hedret de beste prestasjonene innen film fra 2014. Seremonien ble holdt i Dolby Theatre i Hollywood i Los Angeles i California.^[3] Neil Patrick Harris ledet utdelingen for første gang.^[4] De nominerte filmene ble offentliggjort 15. januar 2015. Akademiet har gitt prisen Æres-Oscar til Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki og Maureen O'Hara, samt Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award til Harry Belafonte i november 2014.

De nominerte til den 87. Oscar-utdelingen ble kunngjort 15. januar 2015 i Samuel Goldwyn Theater i Beverly Hills i California, av Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Akademiets direktør, regissørene J. J. Abrams og Alfonso Cuarón og skuespilleren Chris Pine.^[5]^[6] Filmene Birdman og The Grand Budapest Hotel fikk flest nominasjoner med ni hver.^[7]

To nordmenn sto på nominasjonslista: Morten Tyldum (beste regi for The Imitation Game) og Torill Kove (beste animerte kortfilm for Moulton og meg).^[8] Dette er for øvrig Tyldums første og Koves tredje oscarnominasjon. Bent Hamers 1001 gram var Norges kandidat til Oscar for beste fremmedspråklige film, men den ble ikke nominert. Dette er Hamers tredje film som blir valgt som landets oscarkandidat; de andre var Salmer fra kjøkkenet (2003) og O' Horten (2008).
