«One Too Many Mornings» er ein song av Bob Dylan, gjeve ut på det tredje studioalbumet The Times They Are a-Changin' i 1964.[1] Akkordane og vokalmelodien er somme stader særs lik songen «The Times They Are A-Changin'». «One Too Many Mornings» vert framført i C-dur og med fingerplukking.

Dylan-innspelingar

I tillegg til utgåva på The Times They Are a-Changin', har Dylan ofte framført «One Too Many Mornings» i elektriske arrangement, mellom anna på verdsturneen i 1966 og i 1976 under den andre Rolling Thunder Revue-turneen. Konsertopptaket til Dylan frå 17. mai 1966, spelt inn i Manchester Free Trade Hall, kom ut på The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The «Royal Albert Hall» Concert (1998), medan ein «Rolling Thunder»-versjon kom ut på konsertalbumet Hard Rain (1976). I 2016 vart alle konsertopptaka til Dylan av songen frå 1966 gjevne ut i plateboksen The 1966 Live Recordings, og versjonen frå 26. mai 1966 kom ut separat på på albumet The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert.

I 1967 spelte Dylan inn ein versjon av songen med The Band, som kom ut på forskjellige uoffiselle piratopptaksalbum, før dei offisielt kom ut i 2014 på albumet The Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Complete.

Andre innspelingar

Johnny Cash spelte inn songen mange gonger, mellom anna på albumet Johnny & June i 1978. Han spelte inn to versjonar av songen med Dylan, medan Dylan spelte inn Nashville Skyline. Denne, og fleire andre han spelte inn med Dylan, kom aldri offisielt ut. Cash spelte han igjen å ny i ein duett med Waylon Jennings for albumet Heroes. I 2012 kom ein remiks som kombinerte den originale vokalen til Cash med nye innspelingar av Avett Brothers og dette kom ut på Amnesty International-albumet Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan. I 2014 la Willie Nelson og Kris Kristofferson, som i lag med Jennings og Cash utgjorde supergruppa The Highwaymen, til vokal på Heroes-utgåva.[2]

Jan Erik Vold skreiv ein norsk tekst til songen og kalla han «Stiller et døgn for mye», som vart framført av Kåre Virud i 1977 på albumet Virud synger Vold skriver Dylan.[4]
