La Deildabikar 2016 è stata la 21ª edizione del torneo. È iniziata il 12 febbraio ed è terminata il 21 aprile 2016 con la finale. Il KR Reykjavik ha vinto il torneo per la sesta volta nella sua storia dopo aver sconfitto il Víkingur in finale[1].

Formula

Al torneo hanno partecipato 24 squadre: le 12 squadre partecipanti alla Úrvalsdeild 2016 e le 12 squadre partecipanti alla 1. deild karla 2016. Le 24 squadre sono state suddivise in quattro gruppi da sei squadre ciascuno, con ciascuna squadra ad affrontare le altre una volta sola per un totale di cinque giornate. Si sono qualificate alla fase finale le prime due classificate. Tutte le partite della fase a gruppi e della fase finale si sono disputate in stadi al coperto.
