Tōfu-kozō

Tōfu kozō (bahasa Jepang Kanji: 豆腐小僧, Hiragana: とうふこぞう) adalah salah satu yokai dalam cerita rakyat Jepang yang diterjemahkan sebagai "Anak Tahu."^[1] Tofu Kozo memiliki ciri-ciri fisik seperti anak manusia pada umumnya dengan tinggi mencapai satu meter. Cerita tentang yokai ini pertama kali diketahui pada pertengahan abad ke-18. Dalam beberapa literasi dan karya seni ia digambarkan mengenakan kimono, topi kerucut dari jerami, sandal jerami zori, bakiak kayu geta, atau terkadang bertelanjang kaki, dan selalu membawa piring.^[2]

Asal

Terdapat banyak perbedaan pendapat mengenai asal Tofu Kozo. Salah satunya, Tofu Kozo kemungkinan berasal dari karangan seniman Jepang dalam buku bergambarnya. Kisah Tofu Kozo pertama kali muncul dalam sebuah novel fiksi bubur kertas zaman Edo pada tahun 1770-an, dan segera menjadai populer di masyarakat kelas atas.^[1]

Tofu Kozo juga menjadi populer pada awal abad ke-19, dan ilustrasinya muncul di semua jenis majalah populer dan pada kartu koleksi (karuta). Tetapi mulai menghilang dari mata publik pada awal era Meiji tahun 1868.^[2]
