יוסיף אלכסנדרוביץ' בְּרודְסקי (ברוסית: Ио́сиф Алекса́ндрович Бро́дский; באנגלית: Joseph Brodsky;‏ 24 במאי 1940 – 28 בינואר 1996) היה משורר, מסאי ומחזאי יהודי-רוסי-אמריקאי, חתן פרס נובל לספרות.

קורות חיים

נולד במשפחתו של צלם יהודי בלנינגרד. בגיל 15 עזב את בית הספר. לפי עדותו, התחיל לכתוב שירים בגיל 16. היה מקורב למשוררת אנה אחמטובה, שניבאה לו עתיד מזהיר. ב-1964 נעצר בעוון "שוטטות". ולדימיר אדמוני היה עד הגנה וציין הישגים של ברודסי כמשורר ומתרגם. ברודסקי נשפט ל-5 שנים והוגלה לאזור ארכנגלסק. בספטמבר 1965, בזכות התגייסותם של אנשי תרבות ורוח בולטים בברית המועצות ומחוצה לה, שוחרר ברודסקי ושב ללנינגרד. חלק קטן משיריו פורסמו בברית המועצות, אולם הרוב התפרסם במערב ("שירים ופואמות", 1965).

ב-1972 גורש מברית המועצות, התיישב באן ארבור שבמישיגן, שם לימד בחוג ללימודים סלאביים באוניברסיטה המקומית. המשיך לכתוב שירים ברוסית, וכן פרסם פרוזה ודברי ביקורת באנגלית, ועסק גם בתרגומים ספרותיים. ב-1980 קיבל אזרחות אמריקנית, ב-1981 התיישב בניו יורק. היה מעורב בחיים הספרותיים בארצות הברית ובאירופה. בשנים אלו הוציא לאור שלושה ספרי שירה, וכמו כן התפרסמו שני אוספים של שיריו.

ב-1987, בגיל 47, זכה ברודסקי בפרס נובל לספרות (הוא מן הצעירים שבין חתני הפרס) על "כתיבה חובקת-כול, המלאה בהירות מחשבה ועומק פואטי".

ב-1991–1992 קיבל את התואר משורר הקונגרס, המוענק מדי שנה על ידי ספריית הקונגרס.

נפטר מהתקף לב בניו יורק, נקבר בבית הקברות סן מיקלה שבוונציה.
