הנריק פונטופידן (בדנית: Henrik Pontoppidan‏; 24 ביולי 1857, פרדריסיה, יוטלנד – 21 באוגוסט 1943, שארלוטנלונד, דנמרק) היה סופר דני, מחבר רומנים בעל השקפת עולם סוציאליסטית, זוכה פרס נובל לספרות.

ביוגרפיה

הנריק פונטופידן נולד במשפחת כמרים מזה דורות. הוא השתוקק להיות מהנדס ולהשתתף במשלחת מדעית לגרינלנד, אך לא הצליח בכך. הוא קטע את לימודיו בטכניון של קופנהגן והתחיל לעבוד בהוראה בבית ספר כפרי. התחתן עם בת כפר והתיישב באחוזה כפרית.

יצירתו הראשונה, הרומן "כנפיים סמוכות", עוררה את תשומת לבם של גדולי הספרות בסקנדינביה באותה תקופה, גיאורג בראנדס והנריק איבסן ושניהם שיבחו את הרומן. ביצירותיו יש הבנה עמוקה לחיי האיכרים הדנים. הוא מעביר ביקורת מרירה על הניוון התרבותי והמוסרי של ארצו.

בשנת 1917 הוענק לו, יחד עם קרל גילרופ, פרס נובל לספרות על "תיאורו הנפלא לדניה של המאה העשרים".
