דיר אבו דעיף (בערבית: دير ابو ضعيف; תעתיק מדויק: דיר אבו צ֗עיף) היא עיירה פלסטינית בצפון יהודה ושומרון, הממוקמת כ-6 קילומטרים ממזרח לעיר ג'נין ונמצאת בנפת ג'נין. על פי נתוני הלשכה הפלסטינית המרכזית לסטטיסטיקה, אוכלוסיית העיירה מנתה 6,926 תושבים באמצע שנת 2016. רובה נמצא בשטח A.

היסטוריה

בדיר אבו דעיף נמצאה קרמיקה מהתקופה הביזנטית.[1]

בשנת 1838, אדוארד רובינסון ציין את דיר אבו דאיף כאחד ממגוון המקומות באזור הסמוך לכפרים בית קאד, פקועה, דיר ע'זאלה ואראנה.[2] בשנת 1870 ויקטור גרן ציין את דיר אבו דעיף ככפר קטן, מדרום לבית קאד, אך פחות חשוב ממנו.[3] במפת הקרן לחקר ארץ ישראל שיצאה בשנת 1882 היישוב תואר כ"כפר קטן ליד שולי הגבעות. אספקת המים היא מבורות מים. ישנם גני זית בצפון הכפר. הבתים עשויים מבוץ ואבן."[4]

לפי מפקד האוכלוסין של ארץ ישראל משנת 1922 שנערך על ידי שלטונות המנדט הבריטי, התגוררו במקום 441 תושבים. 434 מוסלמים ושבעה נוצרים אורתודוקסים.[5][6] האוכלוסייה גדלה עד מפקד 1931, ומנתה כ-598 תושבים שהתגוררו ב-136 בתים – 593 מוסלמים וחמישה נוצרים.[7] בסקר הכפרים של 1944/5 מנתה האוכלוסייה כ-850 מוסלמים.[8] היישוב התפרס על שטח של כ-12,906 דונם.[9] מתוך שטח זה כ-1,919 דונם שימשו למטעים וקרקע להשקיה, 4,836 דונם לדגנים,[10] ואילו 30 דונם היו אדמות בנויות.[11]

לפי מפקד האוכלוסין הירדני, בשנת 1961 התגוררו במקום כ-1,191 תושבים.[12]
