תיאודריך הראשון (Theuderic I;‏ 484/485 – 533/534) היה שליט פרנקי ואחד מראשוני השושלת המרובינגית.

ביוגרפיה

רקע

תיאודריך היה אחד מבניו, ואולי אף בנו הבכור, של המלך כלוביס הראשון, שאיחד את כל השבטים הפרנקים תחת שלטונו. עם מותו של כלוביס ב-511, חולקה ממלכתו בין ארבעת בניו לפי המנהג הסאלי: כילדברט הראשון נעשה לשליט אזור פריז, כלודומר הומלך על סואסון, כלותאר הראשון קבע את בירתו באורליאן ותיאודריך קיבל את ריימס, מץ וסביבתן. ממלכתו של האחרון הפכה ברבות הימים לאוסטרזיה. תיאודריך היה נשוי לסואווגוטה, בתו של זיגיסמונד, מלך בורגונדיה.

ראשית שלטונו

בשנת 516 לערך, הותקפה ארצו על ידי היגלק, מלך גוטלנד (כיום בשוודיה המודרנית). תיאודריך שלח צבא בראשות בנו, תיאודברט הראשון, שהביס את הפולשים והרג את מלכם.

ב-523, תקפו תיאודריך ושלושת אחיו את נחלותיו של זיגיסמונד והביסו אותו. אך הצבא הבורגונדי לא מוגר: גונדומר, אחיו של זיגיסמונד, גירש את הפרנקים בקרב וזרונטיה שהתחולל ב-21 ביוני 524, בו נהרג כלודומר.

אחרית שלטונו

ב-529 התערב תיאודריך, יחד עם אחיו כלותאר, במלחמת הירושה של שבט התורינגים, ותמך בטוען לכתר הרמנפריד נגד אחיו באדריק. בתמורה לעזרתם, הבטיח להם הרמנפריד את חצי ממלכתו שנשלט בידי אויבו. הפרנקים הביסו את צבאו של באדריק ולאחר שנפל בשבי, ערפו את ראשו. הרמנפריד סירב לעמוד בהתחייבותו ולא מסר את הקרקע שהבטיח. ב-531 או ב-532, פלשו תיאודריך ואחיו שוב לממלכתו וכבשו את הבירה סקיתינגי. הרמנפריד הצליח להימלט, אך הסכים להיפגש עם המלך מריימס כשזה ערב לביטחונו. השניים נועדו ביחד בעיר צילפיך, ותיאודריך העניק לתורינגי מתנות רבות - אך כשזה עמד על החומה, הוא נדחף אל מותו.

ב-532 שוב פשטו תיאודריך ואחיו על בורגונדיה, והצליחו להרוג את גונדומר בקרב אוטן. ב-534 הם חילקו את בורגונדיה ביניהם. באותה שנה מת המלך.
