Yakir Ahanov (en hebreo: יקיר אהרונוב ), nado o 28 de agosto de 1932 [1] é un físico israelí especializado en física cuántica. É profesor de Física Teórica e James J. Farley Professor de Filosofía Natural na Universidade de Chapman en California. Tamén é profesor distinguido no Perimeter Institute [2] e profesor emérito da Universidade de Tel Aviv en Israel. É presidente do IYAR, o Instituto Israelí de Investigación Avanzada.[3]

Traxectoria

Yakir Aharonov naceu en Haifa. Recibiu a súa formación universitaria no Technion - Instituto de Tecnoloxía de Israel en Haifa, graduándose cun BSc (licenciatura) en 1956. Continuou os seus estudos de posgrao no Technion e despois trasladouse á Universidade de Bristol, Reino Unido, xunto co seu conselleiro de doutoramento David Bohm, recibindo un doutoramento en 1960.

Carreira académica

Os seus intereses de investigación son os efectos non locais e topolóxicos en mecánica cuántica, teoría cuántica de campos cuánticos e interpretacións da mecánica cuántica . En 1959, el e David Bohm propuxeron o efecto Aharonov-Bohm polo que co-recibiu o Premio Wolf en 1998.

En 1988 Aharonov et al. publicaron a súa teoría dos valores débiles.  Este traballo foi motivado pola longa procura de Aharonov para verificar experimentalmente a súa teoría de que os eventos aparentemente aleatorios en mecánica cuántica son causados por eventos no futuro (formalismo vectorial de dous estados). Verificar un efecto presente dunha causa futura require unha medición, que normalmente destruiría a coherencia e arruinaría o experimento. El e os seus colegas afirman que puideron usar medicións débiles e verificar o efecto presente da causa futura. Traballando con Aharon Casher, predixeron o efecto Aharonov-Casher, o dual electrodinámico do efecto Aharonov - Bohm con dipolos magnéticos e cargas.
