Roupa de auga

Roupa de augas, inventada segundo diversas fontes no Porto do Son por Joaquina García.
Á esquerda, un típico traxe de verán (tamén chamado shorty ). Á dereita, un traxe de mergullo máis convencional, tanto para augas temperadas como para augas algo máis frías.

Un traxe acuático, traxe de auga ou roupa de auga[1] ou roupa de augas,[2] é un aparello de roupa de illamento térmico que se utiliza nos deportes acuáticos ou na navegación marítima ou fluvial durante a pesca ou marisqueo.

Tipos

Hai basicamente dous tipos diferente de traxes ou roupa de augas:

  1. A roupa de augas, os traxes impermeábeis ou náuticos adoitan empregarse en embarcacións de maior tamaño onde non se pretende estar en contacto permanente coa auga, pero aínda protexen contra a choiva e as ondas e nalgúns casos proporcionan protección térmica en caso de eventuais caídas. Son máis frouxos e s, ou están formados por dúas pezas diferentes, o que permite levar roupa de abrigo no seu interior. Os primeiros traxes de augas foron producidos no Porto do Son pola familia de Gaspar Ben e Ana María Castro, e pouco despois por Joaquina García da Ghaxola, a quen ás veces se atribúe o primeiro deseño da roupa de augas, sendo nena, na década de 1890.[3][4]
  2. Os traxes acuáticos de inmersión están deseñados para o seu uso en contacto total coa auga, durante o mergullo, e a maioría están feitos de neopreno . Utilízanse en deportes como surf, wíndsurf, vela lixeira, kitesurf ou tríatlon. O seu grosor oscila entre 2 mm e 8 mm, dependendo do uso que se lles dea: canto menor sexa a temperatura da auga, máis groso debe considerar o traxe o mergullador. Os traxes utilizados no mergullo adoitan chamarse "traxe de neopreno", "traxe de mergullo" ou simplemente "traxe".
