Würzburgin yliopiston sinetti

Würzburgin yliopisto (saks. Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg) on Saksassa Würzburgin kaupungissa toimiva valtion tukema yliopisto. Se on perustettu vuonna 1582,[3] mutta laskee itse historiansa alkavan jo vuodesta 1402.[4]

Ensimmäisinä vuosisatoinaan Würzburgin yliopisto oli tärkeä roomalaiskatolisen teologian keskus. Se maallistui vuonna 1814, ja nyttemmin yliopiston kuuluisin osa on sen lääketieteellinen tiedekunta.[3]

Würzburgin yliopistossa oli vuonna 2021 noin 27 100 opiskelijaa ja noin 440 professoria kymmenessä tiedekunnassa.[1] Tiedekuntia ovat teologinen, oikeustieteellinen, lääketieteellinen, biologian, kemian ja farmasian, matematiikan ja tietojenkäsittelytieteen, fysiikan ja tähtitieteen, talouden, filosofian ja humanistinen tiedekunta.[5]

Kampukset

Würzburgin yliopiston opetus jakautuu viidelle kampukselle. Keskustan tuntumassa sijaitsevat Sanderringin ja Röntgenringin kampukset. Pari kilometria keskustasta itään, Hublandin kaupunginosassa sijaitsevat Hubland Nordin ja Hubland Südin kampukset, joista Hubland Nord toimii osittain alueella sijainneen Yhdysvaltain ilmavoimien tukikohdan rakennuksissa. Lääketieteen kampus sijaitsee kaupungin pohjoispuolella Grombühlin kaupunginosassa.[1][6]

Yliopiston kirjasto sijaitsee Hubland Südin kampuksella.
