Gregory Vlastos

Gregory Vlastos (27. heinäkuuta 1907 Istanbul, Turkki – 12. lokakuuta 1991 Berkeley, Yhdysvallat) oli turkkilaissyntyinen yhdysvaltalainen antiikin filosofian tutkija, joka kirjoitti useita teoksia Platonista ja Sokrateesta.

Vlastoksen isä oli kreikkalainen ja äiti skotlantilainen. Hän opiskeli Robert Collegessa sekä Harvardin yliopistossa, josta hän väitteli tohtoriksi vuonna 1931. Opetettuaan useita vuosia Queen's Universityssä hän siirtyi Cornellin yliopistoon vuonna 1948. Hän toimi Princetonin yliopiston Stuart-oppituolin filosofian professorina vuosina 1955–1976 ja tämän jälkeen Mills-oppituolin filosofian professorina Kalifornian yliopistossa Berkeleyssä vuoteen 1987. Vlastos kuoli vuonna 1991 ennen kuin sai valmiiksi esseekokoelmaansa sokraattisesta filosofiasta.

Monista Vlastoksen oppilaista on tullut merkittäviä antiikin filosofian tutkijoita. Heihin kuuluvat muun muassa Terence Irwin, Richard Kraut, Paul Woodruff ja Alexander Nehamas.
