Hello. Thank you for pointing this out. I only used a generic template which I found on the page for U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK), in which her Yup'ik name was placed beneath her English name. I discovered other instances where Native people in the U.S. from many different nations had their names in their info-boxes in this fashion (Stand Waite, John Ross, Crazy Horse, Red Cloud, Sitting Bull, Peter Pitchlynn, Allen Wright, Ely S. Parker, Chief Joseph, Chief Seattle, Irataba, Geronimo, etc.)

As a Choctaw I understand there is no generic native language for all our peoples and nations, and I fought to explain that during my undergraduate and graduate years to several overbearing white liberal professors. I simply thought that adding the names to the info-boxes of Russell Means and the others seemed to just be another form of indigenizing the space, as was done with historic Native leaders in America. Hello, I noticed you have made attempts to edit categories on the Flag of Minnesota article to add "|M". I previously reverted your edits because I incorrectly believed you were trying to direct the reader to the "M" list of the category, but I now that you were trying to make sure the Flag of Minnesota article is displayed under "M" for "Minnesota" rather than the default "F" for "Flag". Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Caloosahatchee River, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. "Caloosa" is not Muskogean; "-hatchee" is almost certainly from Muscogee or Hitchiti/Mikasuki. Donald Albury 12:55, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To add to the above, any claim that "Pensacola" is of Choctaw origin is very tenuous. As stated in Pensacola people#Panzacola, the first known use of "Panzacola" was as the name of a village in Apalachee Province. The Pensacola people apparantly shared a language with the Amacano, Chatot, Chine, and Pacara people. That language was Muskogean, and therefore related to the Choctaw and Apalachee languages, but that does not mean that "Pensacola" was Choctaw. "Apalachicola" comes from Apalachicola (tribal town), which was Hitchiti-speaking, not Choctaw. Just because a name could be derived from Choctaw does not mean that it actually was. If you are aware of any reliable sources that say that "Caloosahatchee", "Pensacola", or "Apalachicola" are derived from Choctaw, please present them, but be aware there are reliable sources for derivation of those names from other languages, and all sources must be given due weight. - Donald Albury 13:43, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
