I'm British and a CAMRA member and I have never heard of that saying before. Nevertheless, OR aside; Date, length and hook all OK. Picture licence fine, QPQ done with no close paraphrasing. This is an interesting article, but it has a bit of an odd tone to it. The principle problem is that it doesn't capture the experiences of people who visit(ed) these pubs, including when they were/are the only convenient ones available to them. Instead, the article's perspective on the topic seems to be that of outsiders looking down their nose at these venues. It would be interesting to know whether the people who moved to areas served by these pubs due to slum clearages often liked them, and how the pubs compare against developments in traditional pubs in the UK - of which I've been to some which were (sadly) little more than the beer barns which are being discussed here. The broader issue of whether these pubs were a successful or flawed element of the often-flawed post war rehousing policies could also be explored. This article seems to be a repetition of the same few points (“flat roof pubs are pubs built on housing estates that tend to be rough”) over and over. I feel the whole thing could have been covered much more succinctly. There is much more to be said about estate pubs in general, and would welcome any assistance expanding this. I've significantly rewritten this piece with a couple of aims in mind. Hi, Dumelow - just to explain myself. I've removed a few of the repetitions that Nick-D noticed as I picked up on that too. I've also tried to rebalance the article from "what people say about flat-roofed pubs" to "what flat-roofed pubs are and why they're a distinct thing". I hope I've distilled the substance of what you were trying to get across - however I haven't edited Wikipedia in a long time and I don't know how to work with 'reflists' to trim any now-unused references out of the list at the bottom. I've tried to concentrate most of the "what people say" stuff at the bottom on the basis that much of this seems to be basic stereotyping for comedy effect: while it's relevant because prominent people say it, I think the pubs deserve to stand out to the reader on their own merits and history before we go into any depth on that. I've removed the reference to Viz because, while I found the image posted on the Twitter account in 2015, I couldn't see anything on the image itself - rather than the Twitter user's say-so - to confirm it was from Viz (although personally I have no doubt that it was, I felt I needed to be able to verify that). I've also taken out the Geograph image of the pub at the bottom floor of the tower block because it largely relates to the reference by David Mitchell in which, as far as I could tell, he was mostly attempting to justify criticising the "ground floor of tower block" pub. Hi Invernalis, thanks for your edits. While I disagree on some points (I think the flat-roofed pubs as bottom floors of tower blocks and "flat-roofed pubs without a flat roof are worth mentioning, and prefer to see more images), I'm happy to leave the article be. Should this article be at Estate pubs in the United Kingdom or similar, which would allow the pubs in tower blocks, etc, to be covered? Or would this then be too narrow for the standalone pubs?
