Platyactaea ist eine Gattung der Rundkrabben mit zwei rezenten Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 65 m im tropischen Westatlantik und im tropischen Ostpazifik.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 17 mm lang und 1,5- bis 1,6-mal so breit. Er ist wie die Pereiopoden mit gleichmäßig verteilten Körnern bedeckt, die von kurzen steifen schwarzen Borsten umgeben sind. Die Regionen treten schwach hervor und sind durch seichte, breite Furchen abgegrenzt. Die thorakalen Sterniten 3 und 4 sind bei Männchen nur an den Seiten des Sternums durch eine kurze Rinne abgegrenzt. Der vierte thorakale Sternit zeigt im hinteren Teil eine mittige Furche, die, wie bei Forestiana und im Gegensatz zu Novactaea, bei eingefaltetem Pleon vollständig sichtbar ist. Die Schreitbeine sind kräftig. Der Merus des letzten Schreitbeins ist 2- bis 2,5-mal so lang wie breit.[2]
