San Pietro in Vincoli

Die Papstwahl 1061 fand am 30. September 1061 in San Pietro in Vincoli (Heiliger Peter in Ketten) in Rom nach dem Tod von Papst Nikolaus II. statt. Nach der päpstlichen Bulle In Nomine Domini von Nikolaus II. waren die Kardinalbischöfe erstmals die einzigen Wähler des Papstes der römisch-katholischen Kirche.[1] Bischof Anselmo de Baggio, Gründer der Pataria und nicht Kardinal,[2][3] wurde als Alexander II. zum Papst gewählt und, wahrscheinlich am 1. Oktober 1061, in San Pietro in Vincoli als Papst inthronisiert.[4] Eine Krönung im Petersdom war wegen der Opposition nicht möglich.[5][6]
