Macropipus ist eine Gattung von Krabben innerhalb der Familie der Polybiidae mit vier Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone, den Schelf und den Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 834 m im gemäßigten Nord- und im tropischen Atlantik sowie der gemäßigten Klimazone im Süden Afrikas.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 37 mm lang und queroval bis etwa sechseckig. Die Stirn verläuft konvex und ist zu drei Zähnen eingeschnitten. Der Merus der Scherenbeine ist, im Gegensatz zu Bathynectes und Parathranites, am Ober- und Vorderrand unbewehrt. Die Propodi der ersten drei Schreitbeinpaare sind entlang des gesamten Unterrands mit zwei Längskielen versehen.[2]

Systematik

Die Gattung enthält folgende rezente Arten:[1]

Synonyme sind Elliptodactylus Doflein, 1904 und Polybius (Macropipus) Prestandrea, 1833.[1]
