27. Seanad
Der 27. Seanad amtiert als Seanad Éireann seit Februar 2025. Die Wahl zum 27. Seanad fand im Januar 2025 statt, nachdem der 34. Dáil im November 2024 neugewählt wurde.
Auflösung
Der Seanad Éireann amtiert etwas zeitversetzt zum jeweiligen Dáil. Der folgende 28. Seanad wird voraussichtlich 2029 neu gewählt.
Cathaoirleach
Die Mitglieder wählen aus ihren Reihen einen Vorsitzenden des Seanad, den Cathaoirleach, sowie den Stellvertreter, den Leas-Chathaoirleach. Am Tag der konstituierenden Sitzung, dem 12. Februar 2025, wurde Mark Daly von Fiona O’Loughlin mit Unterstützung von Shane Curley vorgeschlagen. Er wurde per Akklamation gewählt.[1]
Die Abstimmung über den Leas-Chathaoirleach fand am 19. Februar 2025 statt. Maria Byrne wurde von Seán Kyne mit Unterstützung von Joe O’Reilly (alle Fine Gael) vorgeschlagen. Eileen Flynn wurde von Frances Black (beide Unabhängige) mit Unterstützung von Nessa Cosgrove (Irish Labour Party) als Gegenkandidatin vorgeschlagen. Byrne wurde mit 36 zu 15 Stimmen gewählt.[2]
