Армя́не — народ, які размаўляе на армянскай мове, якая належыць да індаеўрапейскай моўнай сям’і. Мае шмат дыяспар па ўсім свеце, у т.л. у Беларусі (гл. Армяне Беларусі).

Этымалогія

Саманазва армян — Հայ (hay), па здагадках, пайшла ад назвы народа — хаяса. Краіна Хаяса і народ хаясы згадваюцца на глінянай хетскай табліцы, якая адносіцца да другога тысячагоддзя да нашай эры, яна была знойдзена пры раскопках сталіцы хетскай дзяржавы — Хатушаш.

Назва краіны Армінія, у якой пражывалі арміны, сустракаецца ўпершыню ў Бехістунскім надпісе персідскага цара Дарыя I, у 522 да н.э. Існуе таксама гістарычны надпіс, які называе рэгіён Армянскага нагор’я Арменіяй, Шумерскага Нарам-Суена, датаваны 2260 да н.э., на тысячу гадоў апераджаючы першае згадванне Урарту^[33]. Герадот (V ст. да.н.э.) называе іх арменамі. Аб Арменіі і побыце армян гэтага ж перыяду важныя звесткі паведамляе Ксенафонт.

However, these are liable to be low numbers, since people of mixed ancestry, very common in North America tend to be under-counted. By all accounts, over half of the Armenians in the United States live in California.
