The 2025 FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup is the planned inaugural edition of the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup, an international futsal competition organized by FIFA. The inaugural edition is to be hosted in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7.[1][2]
Host selection
The World Cup was first announced by FIFA in December 2022. This was followed by countries expressing their interests to host, including Finland.[3]
On May 15, 2024, the Philippines was given the hosting rights,[4][5][6] beating other bidding nations which include Brazil, Italy,[7] and Spain.[8][9] The indoor arenas in the Philippines and its successful organization of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup were cited as reasons for the selection.[10]
This will be the first time the Philippines hosts a FIFA event,[10] the second FIFA women's tournament in Southeast Asia—a first since the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in Thailand, and the second futsal World Cup in the region—a first since the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
Format
The 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout phase, comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals, a third-place play-off, and the final match.[5]
Qualification
Alongside the host Philippines,[11] the inaugural 2025 Futsal Women's World Cup will feature 3 teams from Asia (AFC), 2 each from Africa (CAF) and North/Central America (CONCACAF), 3 from South America (CONMEBOL), 1 from Oceania (OFC), and 4 qualifiers from Europe (UEFA).[12]
