Die nasionale vlag van Panama is op 28 Maart 1903 amptelik in gebruik geneem. Die vlag vertoon vier kwadrante met die skildhoek in wit met ’n vyfpuntige blou ster daarin. Daaronder is ’n blou reghoek (so groot soos die skildhoek). Onder aan die wapperkant is ’n wit reghoek (so groot soos die skildhoek) met ’n vyfpuntige rooi ster en daarbo is ’n rooi reghoek (so groot soos die skildhoek).

Simboliek

Die kleure van die Panamese vlag is waarskynlik gebaseer op die kleure van die belangrikste partye ten tyde van onafhanklikheidwording. Blou was die kleur van die konserwatiewes en rooi die kleur van die liberales.

’n Ander verklaring stel dit dat die blou vir suiwerheid en eerlikheid staan en die rooi vir die gesag van die wet. Die wit stel vrede voor. Die vlag toon ook ’n mate van ooreenkoms met die Amerikaanse vlag. Dit is omdat Amerika hulp aan Panama verleen het in die stryd om onafhanklikheid.
