Dalmasië (Kroaties: Dalmacija, "Land van Skaapwagters"[1]) is 'n streek in Kroasië op die Balkanskiereiland aan die ooskus van die Adriatiese See.[2] Dalmasië is een van die vier historiese gebiede van Kroasië, saam met Slawonië in die ooste, Istrië in die noordweste en die sentrale deel van Kroasië. Administratief word dit onderverdeel in die distrikte (Kroaties: županije) Zadar, Šibenik-Knin, Split-Dalmasië en Dubrovnik-Neretva.

Die streek lê in die suidweste van die land en het 'n oppervlakte van ongeveer 12 000 km², insluitende sowat 1 000 eilande waarvan 'n sestigtal bewoon is, en 'n inwonertal van 852 068 (2011-sensus), onder wie sowat 76 persent Rooms-Katolieke, 13 persent Moslems, 11 persent aanhangers van die Serwies-Ortodokse Kerk, asook kleiner groepe Protestante en aanhangers van ander gelowe. Die grootste stad in die streek is Split. Die historiese stad Dubrovnik in die suide, Zadar en Šibenik is ook in Dalmasië geleë.

Dalmasië is 'n relatief smal kusstrook wat strek van die eiland Rab in die noorde tot die baai van Kotor in die suide, met 'n randgebied die Zagora, die strook verby die berge en heuwels wat die kusstrook definieer. Die nasionale park Krka is onder meer in die Zagora geleë. Een van die hoogste berge aan die kus is die Biokovo. Dit vorm deel van die Dinariese Alpe.

Die Dalmatiese eilande, insluitend die Kornati Nasionale Park en die Mljet Nasionale Park, is ook deel van hierdie historiese gebied.

Die belangrikste riviere is die Zrmanja, die Krka, die Cetina en die Neretva.

Die streek het 'n ryk en onstuimige geskiedenis en was in die antieke tydperk bekend as Dalmatia, 'n provinsie van die Romeinse Ryk. In die vroeë moderne tydperk het die streek onder Venesiaanse bewind gekom en het later, vanaf 1815, 'n kroonland van Oostenryk gevorm as Koninkryk Dalmasië. Ná 1918 het Dalmasië die lot van Kroasië gedeel en is by die Serwies-oorheerste Koninkryk Joego-Slawië ingesluit.
