Pulau Karaweira adalah pulau terluar Indonesia yang terletak di Laut Aru dan berbatasan dengan negara Australia.Pulau Karaweira (berdasarkan Perpres No. 78 Tahun 2005), sebenarnya secara fisik merupakan hamparan pecahan karang mati yang tenggelam saat pasang. Pulau ini tidak berpenghuni dan oleh masyarakat setempat pulau ini disebut juga Pulau Kararai. Karaweira merupakan kelompok gugus pulau kecil yang terbagi atas dua bagian yakni Karaweira Besar (1 buah pulau yang bernama Karaweira Besar dengan luas 1, 781 km2) dan Karaweira Kecil (terdiri dari 6 buah pulau dan hanya 1 pulau yang diberi nama, yaitu Pulau Doriau dengan luas 0,3755 km2).

Secara administrasi, Pulau Karaweira termasuk dalam wilayah Desa Mariri, Kecamatan Aru Tengah, Kabupaten Kepulauan Aru, Provinsi Maluku. Luas Pulau secara keseluruhan mencapai 0,6772 km2 dengan keliling pulau sepanjang 7,926 km. Secara geografis, letak Pulau Karang berada pada titik koordinat 060 00’ 09” LS ; 134o 54’ 26” BT. Di pulau ini terdapat Titik Dasar No. TD 098 dan Titik Referensi No. TR 098.

Akses Transportasi

Untuk menuju Pulau Karaweira, tidak ada transportasi umum atau reguler yang menghubungkan Desa Mariri dengan Dobo (Ibu kota Kabupaten Kepulaua Aru) maupun dengan Benjina (Ibu kota Kecamatan Aru Tengah). Sehingga untuk mencapai pulau ini harus menyewa speedboat dari Dobo melewati selat antara Pulau Wokam dan Pulau Kobror dengan waktu tempuh antara 5-6 jam. Perjalanan dari Dobo ke Benjina dengan menggunakan speedboat membutuhkan waktu antara 45 menit hingga 1 jam. Waktu tempuh yang dibutuhkan untuk mencapai Desa Mariri dari Dobo antara 5,5 – 6 jam. Untuk mencapai Pulau Karaweira dari desa mariri menggunakan speedboat ditempuh dalam waktu antara 30-45 menit.
