Hutan Larangan Hulu Sungai Cibeet

Hutan Larangan Hulu Sungai Cibeet adalah sebuah kawasan hutan larangan yang berupa hutan tropis yang terletak di utara kabupaten Cilacap, Jawa tengah. Hutan ini secara budaya dianggap Masyarakat adat Dayeuhluhur Cilacap sebagai hutan keramat dan dianggap sebagai tanah ulayatnya.

Lokasi

Hutan ini berlokasi di Pegunungan Pembarisan perbatasan Jawa Tengah dengan Jawa Barat. Tepatnya kawasan hutan antara Gunung Pojoktiga hingga Sungai Ci Jolang.

Karakter topografi

Hutan Larangan Hulu Sungai Cibeet adalah hutan lebat yang memiliki karakter kemiringan sulit dijelajahi karena berada di pegunungan yang curam. Hutan ini masih memiliki banyak hewan dan burung langka yang masih bisa ditemukan dan kadang masuk ke perkampungan. Hutan ini merupakan sumber air dari Sungai Cibeet, Cikawalon dan Cidayeuh.

Flora dan fauna

Laba-laba bertanduk (Macracantha arcuata),[1] umum dijumpai dalam hutan ini.

Serupa dengan Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon, Hutan ini menampung satwa dan pohon tropis langka, termasuk banyak Rusa (genus), Macan tutul jawa[2] dan monyet. Orang-orang di daerah ini percaya bahwa Harimau jawa dan banteng masih terdapat di hutan ini. Di hutan ini juga banyak terdapat spesies anggrek liar.

Bunga anggrek liar yang tumbuh subur di hutan hulu Cibeet.

Pantang Larangan

Hutan ini memiliki larangan meludah di dalam hutan atau berkata-kata kasar ketika menjelajahinya.

Juru kunci

Tercatat pada tahun 2014, juru kunci muda Hutan Larangan Hulu Sungai Cibeet adalah Ceceng Rusmana dengan gelar Ki Girang Tampian.
