Dirk van Hogendorp (1761–1822)

Diderik "Dirk" graaf van Hogendorp (13 Oktober 1761 – 29 Oktober 1822) adalah jenderal dan negarawan Belanda. Ia adalah putera Willem van Hogendorp, Jr, kakak Gijsbert Karel van Hogendorp (ayah Frederik van Hogendorp, Sr, yang notabene adalah kakek buyut dari Tjalling Aedo Johan van Eysinga, walikota Oegtgeest), dan ayah Carel Sirardus Willem van Hogendorp.

Ia berdinas selama 9 tahun di Angkatan Darat Prusia. Pada tahun 1783, ia berdinas di Kelaksamanaan Amsterdam sebagai kapten letnan di bawah Jacob Pieter van Braam ke Hindia Belanda, dan mencetak 'jasa' dengan aksi ke Kepulauan Riau dan Sulawesi. Setelah itu, ia menjabat sebagai residen di Patna (Benggala), kemudian di Jepara. Ia pernah juga menjadi pedagang besar di Surabaya dan pegawai negeri di Tapal Kuda.

Pada tahun 1798, karena kritikannya yang pedas atas gaya kolonialisme Belanda, ia ditahan, namun melarikan diri dari negerinya pada tahun 1799. Pada tahun 1803, ia pergi sebagai duta ke Sankt Peterburg, dan 2 tahun kemudian kembali ke Belanda. Pada tahun 1806, ia diangkat sebagai menteri perang di bawah Raja Louis Bonaparte, dan pada tahun 1807 ia diberhentikan, diangkat sebagai duta besar di Wina, kemudian di Berlin pada tahun 1809, dan pada tahun 1810 di Madrid. Setelah aneksasi Belanda pada tahun 1811, ia melangkah sebagai jenderal divisi dan ajudan kaisar di Angkatan Darat Prancis dan pada tahun 1812 sebagai Gubernur Vilnius, lalu di Hamburg pada tahun 1813, di mana akibat watak kerasnya ia dibenci. Setelah kejatuhan Napoleon ia ditarik kembali ke Belanda, tetapi kembali diaktifkan di Dinas Napoleon. Setelah kekalahan dalam Pertempuran Waterloo, ia dibebastugaskan, lalu dengan kapal ia menuju Amerika Selatan dan meninggal di Brasil.
