Çiftlik, insanların kırsal alan'da bitki ve hayvanları yetiştirip yararlandıkları işletme. Günümüzde en yaygın çiftlik türleri agrivoltaik, ağaç çiftliği, hara (at çiftliği), ağıl, arılık, balık çiftliği, sığır çiftliği, süt çiftliği, kürk çiftliği, keçi çiftliği, mandıracılık, dönüştürülebilir hayvancılık çiftliği, böcek çiftliği, çiftlik hayvanları, domuz yetiştiriciliği, Kümes hayvanları yetiştiriciliği, kuşçuluk çiftliği, koyun çiftliği, yaban hayatı çiftçiliği'dir.[1] İsim, ekilebilir arazi, sera, sebze çiftlikleri, meyve çiftlikleri, gübre, hayvan yemi ve hayvancılık çiftlikleri, doğal lif, biyoyakıt ve diğer emtia üretimi için kullanılan araziler için kullanılır. Çiftlikler, beslenme yeri, ranç, ekin tarlaları ve plantasyonlar, meralar, küçük çiftlikler ve hobi çiftlikleri, çiftlik avlusu, çiftlik suyu tesisi, çiftlik evi ve tarımsal binaları da içerir. Modern zamanlarda bu terim, her ikisi de karada veya denizde çalışabilen rüzgâr çiftliği ve balık çiftlikleri gibi endüstriyel operasyonları içerecek şekilde genişletilmiştir.[2]

Dünyada çoğu küçük ve aile tarafından işletilen yaklaşık 570 milyon çiftlik var. 2 hektardan daha az arazi alanına sahip küçük çiftlikler, dünyadaki tarım arazilerinin yaklaşık %1'ini işletmektedir. Aile çiftliği türleri, dünyadaki tarım arazilerinin yaklaşık %75'ini oluşturmaktadır.[3]
