NGC 6597, Yeni Genel Katalog'da yer alan bir galaksidir. Gökyüzünde Ejderha takımyıldızı yönünde bulunur. E? tipi bir eliptik galaksidir. Amerikan astronom Lewis A. Swift tarafından 1885 yılında 40,64 cm (16 inç) çaplı mercekli tip bir teleskopla keşfedilmiştir.[4]
