Karataşlar, Erzurum ilinin Köprüköy ilçesine bağlı bir kırsal mahalledir.

Tarihçe

Mahallenin eski adı 1902 yılı kayıtlarında Ermenicede "yünlüce, çalılıklar" anlamına gelen Tavonts, 1935 ve 1916 yılı kayıtlarında ise Tağuns ya da Tavons olarak geçmektedir.[5] Daha önceleri Erzurum ili Pasinler ilçesine bağlı olan köy, 1990 yılında, yeni kurulan Erzurum ili Köprüköy ilçesine bağlanmıştır.[6] 1993 yılında Büyükşehir olan Erzurum'da, 2012 yılında 6360 Sayılı Yasa ile, tüm köylerin tüzel kişiliği kaldırılmıştır. Bu köy de Köprüköy Belediyesi'nin bir mahallesi olmuştur.[7]

Coğrafya

Mahalle, Erzurum il merkezine 84 km, Köprüköy ilçe merkezine 28 km uzaklıktadır.[8] Mahalle, Köprüköy'ün güneydoğusunda olup, D.955 numaralı Erzurum-Muş (Köprüköy-Hınıs) devlet yoluna, 1,7 km.'lik bir köy yoluyla bağlıdır.[9]
