Harald Szeemann (2001)

Harald Szeemann (11 Haziran 1933 – 18 Şubat 2005) İsviçreli küratör, sanatçı ve sanat tarihçisiydi. Aralarında Live In Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form (1969) ve Happening and Fluxus (1970) gibi sergilerin de bulunduğu 200'den fazla serginin küratörlüğünü yapmıştır.[1]

Kişisel hayatı

Szeemann 11 Haziran 1933'te Bern, İsviçre'de doğdu.[2] Bern ve Sorbonne'da sanat tarihi, arkeoloji ve gazetecilik okudu.[2] 1958'de Francoise Bonnefoy ile evlendi ve 1959'da oğlu Jerome Patrice, 1964'te ise kızı Valerie Claude doğdu. Hayatı boyunca iki evlilik yapan Szeemann, ikinci evliliğini sanatçı Ingeborg Lüscher ile yaptı. 1975'te kızları Una Szeemann doğdu. 2005'te akciğer zarı kanseri teşhisiyle Locarno şehrinde hastaneye kaldırıldı[3] ve 71 yaşında öldü.

Kariyeri

1957'ten itibaren İsviçre'de sergiler organize etmeye başlayan Szeemann, 1961 yılında henüz 28 yaşındayken Kunsthalle Bern'in direktörü oldu.[4] O dönem daha yerel ve geleneksel bir enstitü olarak kabul edilen Kunsthalle Bern'de, her ay umut vadeden genç sanatçılarla yeni sergiler açmayı başardı.[1]
