Výhrevnosť

Výhrevnosť je veličina udávajúca aké množstvo tepla sa uvoľní spálením jednotkového množstva látky alebo zmesi. Výhrevnosť patrí medzi základné fyzikálne parametre palív.

Jednotkou výhrevnosti je podiel energie a množstva. Podľa druhu posudzovanej zmesi môže byť výhrevnosť udávaná v:

J.kg^-1 (Joule na kilogram - alebo častejšie v odvodených jednotkách kJ.kg^-1, MJ.kg^-1) pre posudzovanie výhrevnosti pevných a kvapalných palív,
J.m^-3 (Joule na meter kubický - alebo častejšie v odvodených jednotkách kJ.m^-3, MJ.m^-3) pre posudzovanie výhrevnosti plynných palív, alebo výhrevnosti zmesi paliva so vzduchom,
J.mol^-1 (Joule na mól) pre posudzovanie výhrevnosti malých množstiev palív (napríklad pri výpočte chemických reakcií),
prípadne iných jednotkách.

Výhrevnosť sa zväčša určuje pomocou kalorimetra.

Horná a dolná výhrevnosť paliva

Horná výhrevnosť - H_s (iné názvy: hrubá výhrevnosť, spaľovacie teplo, nevhodne: spalné teplo; iná značka: Q_v) je výhrevnosť ktorá zahŕňa uvoľnenú energiu z paliva pri spaľovaní v adiabatických podmienkach pri tlaku 101,325 kPa za predpokladu, že sa výsledné produkty spaľovania ochladia na teplotu, akú mali pred spálením a voda obsiahnutá v spalinách je v kvapalnom stave.

Dolná výhrevnosť - H_i (iné názvy: čistá výhrevnosť, výhrevnosť v užšom zmysle; iná značka: Q_n) je výhrevnosť ktorá zahŕňa uvoľnenú energiu z paliva pri spaľovaní v adiabatických podmienkach pri tlaku 101,325 kPa za predpokladu, že sa výsledné produkty spaľovania ochladia na teplotu, akú mali pred spálením ale vodná para obsiahnutá v spalinách je v plynnom stave.

Dolná výhrevnosť je teda znížená o energiu potrebnú na odparenie vody, ktorá je produktom spaľovania. Táto energia (výparné teplo vody) má hodnotu 2,5 MJ na každý kilogram vody v spalinách.

Spaľovanie v reálnych technických aplikáciách prebieha vždy za vysokých teplôt, s výstupnými produktmi v plynnej fáze. Ak technické zariadenie nie je vybavené kondenzačným systémom, rozdiel energií medzi dolnou a hornou výhrevnosťou zostáva v odchádzajúcich spalinách. Preto má pri porovnávaní palív väčší význam dolná výhrevnosť.

Rozdiel vo výhrevnostiach môže byť významý (aj viac ako 10 %) v závislosti od množstva vodíka v palive.

Výhrevnosť zmesi

Pre posudzovanie objemových výkonov tepelných strojov, nie je podstatná výhrevnosť použitého paliva, ale výhrevnosť pracovnej zmesi. Výhrevnosť zmesi je možné určiť zo vzťahu:
