Liam James Payne (* 29. august 1993, Wolverhampton, Anglicko – † 16. október 2024, Buenos Aires, Argentína)[1] bol anglický sólový spevák a taktiež člen úspešnej chlapčenskej skupiny One Direction.

Payne zomrel 16. októbra pádom z tretieho poschodia hotelu CasaSur Palermo v Buenos Aires v Argentíne.[2]

Rodina

Payne sa narodil v roku 1993 vo Wolverhamptone v Anglicku v rodine Geoffa a Karen Payne. Mal staršie sestry Ruth a Nicolu. Už v detstve mal zdravotné problémy, pretože sa narodil predčasne o 3 týždne. Narodil sa mŕtvy a lekári ho museli oživovať. Lekári dlho nevedeli diagnózu, ale neskôr zistili, že sa Payne narodil len s jednou obličkou. Preto si musel stále dávať pozor na to, čo pije, a nesmel fajčiť.

V škole sa Payne dostal do skupiny cross country running team (beh vo voľnej prírode).

Kariéra

Payne sa prvýkrát objavil v X Factore UK v roku 2008. Prespieval sa až do „judges' houses“, odkiaľ ho vyradil hlavný porotca Simon Cowell, pretože sa mu nezdal vo veku 14 rokov dostatočne zrelý.

O dva roky neskôr sa pokúsil v speváckej súťaži „X Factor“ znovu o úspech, kde zaspieval pieseň „Cry Me a River“. Vďaka jeho výkonu si od publika zaslúžil ovácie a od poroty svoje sympatie. Samostatne sa dostal iba do druhého kola súťaže, keď v ďalšom priebehu ho porotcovia spojili s približne rovnako starými spolusúťažiacimi Harrym Stylesom, Louisom Tomlinsonom, Niallom Horanom a Zaynom Malikom a do „judges' houses“ ich poslali ako skupinu. Tak vznikla skupina One Direction (skratka 1D), ktorá sa v konečnom poradí umiestnila na 3. mieste.

Po začatí sólovej dráhy v máji 2017 Liam vydal svoj prvý singel s názvom „Strip that down“, na ktorom hosťuje americký rapper Quavo.

Ďalším hudobným počinom v spolupráci so Zeddom z roku 2017 bola pieseň „Get low“. Okrem toho naspieval duet so speváčkou Ritou Orou k filmu 50 odtieňov šedej s názvom „For you“, ku ktorej bol natočený aj videoklip.
