Jürgen Stock (* 4. október 1959, Wetzlar, Nemecko)[1] je nemecký policajný dôstojník a akademik. Od 7. novembra 2014 je generálnym tajomníkom Interpolu.

Životopis

V roku 1978 nastúpil ku kriminálnej polícii v Hesensku a do roku 1992 pôsobil na pozícii dôstojníka. V rokoch 1992 až 1996 študoval na Giessenskej univerzite, kde sa venoval vedeckému výskumu v oblasti kriminalistiky. V roku 1996 začal pracovať ako právnik, ale onedlho sa vrátil do Bundeskriminalamt, kde sa stal zástupcom vedúceho oddelenia boja proti hospodárskej kriminalite.[1] V roku 1998 sa stal prezidentom Univerzity aplikovanej policajnej vedy so sídlom v Sasku-Anhaltsku.

Do Bundeskriminalamt sa ešte raz vrátil v roku 2000, kde bol riaditeľom Inštitútu pre vynútiteľnosť práva a školenia. V roku 2004 sa stal viceprezidentom Bundeskriminalamt.[1]

Je tiež čestným profesorom práva a kriminológie na univerzite v Giessene.[2] Má 35 rokov policajnej praxe, pričom viac než polovicu svojej kariéry zastával vo vedúcich funkciách.[3]

Od roku 2005 pracuje pre Interpol. V rokoch 2007 až 2010 pôsobil v tejto organizácii na pozícii európskeho viceprezidenta. 7. novembra 2014 bol zvolený valným zhromaždením za generálneho tajomníka. Túto pozíciu prevzal po Ronaldovi Noblovi s okamžitou účinnosťou.[4] Bol zvolený na päťročné obdobie. Vo svojej funkcii okrem iného implementuje komplexný reformný proces s názvom INTERPOL 2020 s úmyslom zlepšiť schopnosť organizácie plniť globálne bezpečnostné potreby svojich členských krajín.[3]
