Reeves was earlier elected as Mississippi’s 33rd state treasurer on November 4, 2003 and re-elected to a second term in 2007. He is the first Republican to have been state treasurer in Mississippi history.[1]
After Senator Thad Cochran resigned in March 2018, news spread that Governor Phil Bryant would make Reeves Cochran's replacement.[2]Cindy Hyde-Smith was selected as Cochran's replacement on March 21, 2018.
