Beagle Bay
Beagle Bay is a small Aboriginal community in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It is on the Dampier Peninsula, north of Broome.

History
The area is the traditional land of the Nyulnyul people.
In 1890, a Catholic mission was started at Beagle Bay. German missionaries came to live and work there. In 1918, the missionaries were forced to leave the mission because of World War I. Irish missionaries then came to the mission.
The most famous building in the community is the Beagle Bay Sacred Heart Church. It was finished in 1918. The church has a special altar made from mother of pearl and other seashells from the local beaches.
Geography
Beagle Bay is on the coast. It is about 120 kilometers north of the town of Broome. The road to Beagle Bay is unsealed. The community is in a tropical area with hot weather and a wet season. Beagle Bay connects to communities further north such as Djarindjin, Lombadina, Bobieding and Ardyaloon.[1]
Demographics
The community has a school, a store, and a health clinic. Many of the people who live in the community are from the Nyulnyul, Yawuru, Bardi, and Jabirr Jabirr language groups.
