Lombadina

Lombadina is a small town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It is located on the Dampier Peninsula, about 220 kilometers north of Broome. The town is home to the Bardi people, an Aboriginal Australian community. As of 2016, the town had a population of 397, including 312 aboriginal people.[1]

History

The Lombadina mission was started in 1913 by Pallottine missionaries. They built a church and a school to serve the local Bardi people. In 1968, the mission was handed over to the community, and it is now run by the Bardi Aboriginal Corporation.

Tourism

Lombadina is known for its beautiful beaches and clear blue water. Visitors can go swimming, fishing, and boating. The town also has a small bakery, a craft shop, and a campground. Tourists can learn about the local culture from the Bardi people and see traditional art and crafts.
