Ardyaloon

Ardyaloon, also known as One Arm Point or Bardi, is a community in Western Australia. It is on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley region. It is a place where the Bardi people live.[1]

Geography

Ardyaloon is far north in Western Australia. It is on the coast, looking out at the ocean. It is about 2,446 kilometers (1,520 miles) north of Perth the capital city of Western Australia.

The closest bigger town is Derby, which is about 114 kilometers (71 miles) away.

Broome is also a bigger town, about 189 kilometers (117 miles) away.

Demographics

In 2021, about 303 people lived in Ardyaloon. The people of Ardyaloon are mostly from the Bardi-Jawi language groups. The name "One Arm Point" comes from a story about a pearler who had an accident with dynamite while trying to catch fish.
