Manastir Knežina

Manastir Knežina je manastir Srpske pravoslavne crkve i nalazi u selu Knežina, 11 kilometara od Sokoca. Manastir je posvećen presvetoj Bogorodici, a manastirska crkva nosi naziv hram svetih ravnoapostola cara Konstantina i carice Jelene.

Istorijat

Prema predanju o čemu svjedoče temelji, prijašnji manastir je izgrađen u 14. vijeku kod izvora Knežine.[1] Graditelj manastira je bio Andrijaš, brat Kraljevića Marka, a manastir su uništile Osmanlije.[1] Sadašnji hram je sagrađen 1962. godine na temeljima drvene crkve koja je uništena za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata.[2] Prijašnja postradala drvena crkva je sagrađena 1926. godine. Parohijska Crkva je u vrijeme vladike Vasilija, 1989. godine u prisustvu 100.000 vjernika proglašena za manastir Knežina.[1]

U neposrednoj blizini hrama se nalaze neistraženi stećci, termomineralni izvor Toplik, i neistražena pećina iz koje izvire rijeka Bioštica.[2][3]
