Duhovi (praznik)

Duhovi ili pedesetnica (grč. πεντηκοστή pentekostē - pedeseti dan) je hrišćanski praznik kojim se proslavlja silazak svetog Duha na apostole u Jerusalimu, 50 dana nakon Isusovog uskrsnuća. Odatle i izraz proslava pedesetnice, pentekoste itd.

Etimologija

Naziv Duhovi je doslovce preuzeto iz staroslavenskog, gde je to genitiv jednine, a zapravo se odnosi na Duha Svetog koji je jedan, a ne na više duhova kako se to odomaćilo u imenu koje ovaj praznik danas nosi.

Značaj praznika

Hrišćani ovaj praznik slave i kao dan "rođenja Crkve" budući da Dela Apostolska donose da su apostoli puni Duha Svetoga govorili tako da su ih mogli razumeti ljudi svih naroda i jezika, a mnoštvo se "dalo krstiti te su primili Duha Svetoga". Inače to je i jasno otvaranje spasonosnog poslanja Crkve prema svima a ne samo prema Jevrejima.

Praznovanje

U hramove se unosi sveža zelena trava i cveće. Posle svete liturgije služi se večernje, na kome se kleči i pletu venci od trave i cveća. Ti venci se nose kući i stavljaju pored ikone i kandila na zid.

Ovaj praznik slave katolici, pravoslavci i mnoge druge hrišćanske crkve.
