Пол Джентило́цци[1] (итал. Paul Gentilozzi; родился 6 февраля 1950 года в Лансинге, США) — американский автогонщик и бизнесмен.

Биография

Пол с ранних лет не связывал свою жизнь с автоспортом: он успел окончить школу, получить диплом магистра по управлению в Университете штата Мичиган и организовать собственный процветающий бизнес-проект в области недвижимости и в интернет-торговле.

В начале 1980-х годов Джентилоцци обратил свой взгляд и на автогонки: сначала он пробует себя в североамериканском чемпионате по гонкам на выносливость IMSA GT как пилот, а вскоре организовывает и собственную гоночную организацию. Проект, названный Rocketsports Racing следующие два десятилетия участвует в различных кузовных и формульных сериях, готовя машину как Полу, так и другим пилотам его организации. Со временем организация становится не просто одной из частных команд в североамериканском автоспорте, а получает полузаводскую поддержку различных марок, сотрудничая с Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Ford и Jaguar. Также проект отмечается в дрэг-рейсинговых сериях.

Расцвет гоночной карьеры Джентилоцци приходится на начало 1990-х годов: экипаж пола является одним из лидеров класса GTS-1, занимает призовые места своём классе в IMSA GT, а в 1994 году, вместе с Скоттом Пруэттом, Батчем Лейтцингером и Стивом Милленом, он выигрывает суточный марафон в Дайтоне в абсолютном зачёте. В том же сезоне американец дебютирует в другом известном суточном марафоне: в Ле-Мане.

После ряда успехов в гонках на выносливость Джентилоцци переключается на более спринтерские серии, стартуя в Trans-Am. Довольно быстро Пол становится одним из лидером данного чемпионата, ежегодно выигрывает по множеству гонок, и четырежды — между 1998-м и 2004 годом — выиграв кубок победителя личного зачёта.

В конце 2003 года Пол вместе с Кевином Калховеном и Джеральдом Форсайиом вошёл в группу бизнесменов, которая выкупила активы разорившегося первенства CART[2] и создала на его месте свою серию, отсрочившую окончательную кончину чемпионата. Проект Джентилоцци Rocketsports Racing в эти несколько лет участвует в Champ Car сначала как самостоятельная команда, а затем выступив в союзе с RuSPORT. Усилиями Алекса Тальяни Джентилоцци выиграл одну гонку как владелец.

В 2008 году Джентилоцци и Форсайт вышли из проекта, а Калховен вместе с остатками активов объединился с конкурирующим первенством IRL IndyCar.[3][4]
