Sé episcopal

Sé episcopal, Sede episcopal (em latim: sedes) ou metrópole (em grego: μητρόπολις) refere-se a uma catedral, lugar onde um bispo tem sua cátedra, o lugar a partir de onde o bispo exerce sua jurisdição. No caso de arcebispos, o termo utilizado é sé arquiepiscopal.

Por extensão acaba referindo-se também ao território onde um bispo e seus assistentes (assim como a cúria papal) exerce seu governo eclesiástico, uma diocese ou Igreja particular em comunhão plena com Roma.

O termo é especialmente usado pela Igreja Católica e pela Comunhão Anglicana, assim como por algumas igrejas luteranas.
