Alexandre Numênio (em grego clássico: Ἀλέξανδρος), ou (de acordo com a Suda) Alexandre, filho de Numênio, foi um retórico grego que floresceu na primeira metade do século II.[1]

Sobre sua vida, quase nada se sabe. Duas obras são atribuídas a ele. Uma, que certamente é sua, tem o título Περὶ τῶν τῆς διανοίας καὶ τῆς λέξης σχημάτων No que respeita os padrões de distribuição e da palavra. Júlio Rufiniano, em sua obra sobre o mesmo assunto afirma expressamente que Áquila Romano, em seu tratado em latim De Figuris Sententiarum et Elocutionis, coletou seu material do trabalho de Alexandre.[2] Outro epítome foi apresentado no século IV por um cristão para uso em escolas cristãs, contém exemplos adicionais de Gregório de Nazianzo.

O segundo trabalho tradicionalmente atribuído a Alexandre Numênio, intitulado Sobre o demonstrativo (Περὶ Ἐπιδεικτικῶν), é reconhecido por praticamente todos os críticos como não sendo desse Alexandre, mas de um gramático também chamado Alexandre. Para se falar mais corretamente, é constituído de duas obras distintas, uma escrita por um Alexandre, e outra por Menandro, o Reitor .[3] A primeira edição destas duas obras é a da Imprensa Aldina (Rhetores Graeci, Veneza, 1508, fol., vol. i. p. 574, &c.). Eles estão também contidos na Rhetores Graeci, vol. viii, de Walz. A genuína obra de Alexandre Numênio foi também editada, juntamente com Minuciano e Foebamão, por L. Normann, com uma tradução e notas úteis em latim, Upsala, 1690, 8vo.[4][5]
