3-2-2-3

3-2-2-3 (WM) é um esquema tático do futebol, formado por três defensores, dois meio-campistas recuados, dois meio-campistas avançados e três atacantes, fazendo um desenho de um "W" no ataque e de um "M" na defesa.

Origem

O esquema teve origem em 1925, quando o técnico inglês (e professor de geometria) Herbert Chapman, do Arsenal, desenvolveu esta tática para adaptar seu time à nascente regra do impedimento – os zagueiros se adiantavam, deixando o atacante adversário fora de jogo.[1] O interessante nessa estratégia foi o quadrado mágico no meio, não pelos atletas serem excepcionais, e sim por que a forma do meio campo poderia ser mudada de acordo com a necessidade do time, um meia de arranque poderia ir ajudar na armação e vice-versa.

Segundo Carlos Alberto Parreira, este sistema de jogo "inaugurou o surgimento da marcação homem a homem, pois os dois times jogavam sempre da mesma maneira."[1]
