Biegi eliminacyjne zostały rozegrane 24 sierpnia, półfinałowe 26 sierpnia, a bieg finałowy 27 sierpnia 1950 roku. Zwycięzcą tej konkurencji został Włoch Armando Filiput. W rywalizacji wzięło udział dwudziestu zawodników z trzynastu reprezentacji.
